Our Level 3 River Kayak Skills Training is more than just technical ability - it's about learning to move with awareness, read the river - respond with calm and confidence.
Our Level 3 Kayak Skills is designed for paddlers ready to progress beyond the basics and embrace a whitewater environment on grade 2 - 3 rivers.
Our course is a blend of technical development, and a deep connection with the river. With us, you will learn to read the water and features, catch eddies with precision, perform safe rescues and refine those strokes that keep you in command.
Course Highlights:
- Control on moving water - catching eddies, breaking in and out, ferry gliding, crossflow momentum
- River Reading - Hydrology, hazards and safe lines
- Awareness and decision making - grounded in presence
- Rescues - Self rescue (Roll) and assisted rescues
Who is this course for?
- Level 2 paddlers looking to progress or with previous moving water experience
- Those preparing for the Canoeing Ireland Level 3 Skills Award
- Instructors, club paddlers and adventure seekers looking to develop rescue competence and a resilient mindset
This training is a key step toward your Level 3 Kayak Skills Award, but more than anything, it's an invitation to paddle with purpose and recalibrate your senses.

Booking Cancelations
Up to 5 working days before your course date:
- You can receive a full refund or reschedule to a later date.
Within 5 working days of your trip:
- No refunds or rescheduling are available, as our coaches will already have been allocated.
Please note that courses may be rescheduled or cancelled due to excessive water levels. If this happens, we will contact you as soon as possible.
Important Information
The Canoe Centre reserves the right to refuse participation if:
- You are not complying with safety rules and advise, or
- You are under the influence of drugs or alcohol
No refunds will be provided in these circumstances.
Weather Conditions
We operate in all weather conditions except when there are extreme weather warnings and it is deemed unsafe to proceed.
